Gates Millennium Scholarship (Opens in August, due in the beginning of January). I'm not sure if it's the same application, but when I was applying there were 10 essays. (Crying? I know. I cried too. Thinking about not even applying? Don't. Apply. Give it a shot! This is one of the BEST scholarships you can get! And although, I did not get it, I know a few people that did. So, that has to count for something :)!
QuestBridge Scholarship: QuestBridge is a National College Match Scholarship, and truly a great scholarship program if awarded. Its focus is on high-achieving, low-income students. Freshman in High School? Work for this, it's worth it! Junior/Senior in High School? Apply.
Coca-Cola Scholarship: AHHHHH! My favorite! But of course it is. I am part of the 25th class of Coca-Cola Scholars. And, so very humbled to have been! Coca-Cola has provided me with a wealth of resources, and good people. APPLY! APPLY! APPLY! Sidebar: you don't have to like dark soda, like Coke, to apply. LOL. I sure don't (inserts sad face).
The NY Times College Scholarship Program: The NY Times gave me the confidence boost, that we all need, at least once in a while. When I became a Semi-finalist for this scholarship in 2013, they had a section in the NY Times congratulating all the semi-finalist, listing their names and High School of attendance. How awesome was that? I remember how proud my guidance counselor was (inserts face with tear drop emoji). I did not make it as a finalist guys, but becoming a semi-finalist definitely pushed me to apply to more and more scholarships. So, go ahead and try this one :). Apply!
Burger King Scholarship Program: Okay, so I remember this application was not as bad as the others. And, at this point, you probably have an essay that you can tweek and use to answer the essay question they ask you. Thank you Burger King! It was a quick, one time $1,000 scholarship, which really helped my parents Freshman Year, so APPLY :)
Beyond The Boroughs National Scholarship Fund: Do Right, Do Good Scholarship: Ah, yes. This was really great. If awarded, you attend a ceremony in Downtown, Brooklyn, and you can bring your parents and stuff. Apply specifically to the "Do Right, Do Good" scholarship, and also look into other scholarships under Beyond The Boroughs.
Offsetters Cultural Club Scholarship: It's literally 3:05 A.M., and I am losing things to say about these scholarships. I received this application from my guidance counselor and I can't remember the exact qualifications, but you guys should, apply :). I received $600, which I used for books, mostly. Talk to your counselor!
Jack and Jill of America Foundation Scholarship: Yearly 1,000 scholarship. Thank you Ms. Baker :) Apply!
NYS Merit Scholarship Award: HS SENIORS ONLY. Well, all these scholarships are, lol. Anyways, if you plan on attending a college in NY, you may be eligible for this one. Talk to your school's guidance counselor to see if you can apply :)
Ron Brown Scholarship Program: I was too lazy to apply for this, but looking back I regret it. Guys, please do not give up. Apply to as many scholarships as you possibly can! I had a friend that applied to this one and won! So, go ahead and give this one a shot.
Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship: Here's to another scholarship that I was too lazy to apply to :(! Nonetheless, I know someone who applied and who is currently a JRF scholar. Apply!
BP Scholarship: BP, like the gas station. This one, I actually have a really sad story about, but just apply guys. I know a couple of people who won this one, and unfortunately, after my laptop got a virus, I was not able to access the three essays I wrote for this scholarship. So, as you could imagine, I did not have the drive to write over three compelling essays the day before the scholarship application was due. Note to self: email all your essays to yourself when you're done writing them (inserts crying face).
NYU Stern Association of Hispanic and Black Business Students STEPS program: SAT Test Prep Scholarship Program. So unfortunately, this program has ceased. But it was a free Kaplan SAT Prep course . I am mentioning this one to you guys so you can google programs just like it. It was extremely helpful in giving me tricks and tips for the SATs, a free prep book, weekly sessions, etc. I probably would not have scored what I did on my SATs without them! So, start your search, there are more programs like this out there!
If you guys have any other scholarships that you know of for High School Students, drop them in the comments. Thank you (inserts red heart).
